The Biggest Loser Couples Reunited But One Pair Falters

The Biggest Loser is officially The Biggest Loser: Couples once again as the teams reunited for the remaining duration of the competition. Until that time when once again, the teams will be decimated as there is only one Biggest Loser. The reunited team members are, cousins, Blaine and Dane, who were never separated; friends, Laura and Tara; sisters, Mandi and Aubrey; cousins, Sione and Filipe; best friends, Carla and Joelle; mother and daughter, Helen and Shanon; mother and daughter, Kristin and Cathy and father and son, Mike and Ron who, too, were never separated.

It’s been five weeks and now the game is fresh as the couples come back together and injecting new energy and, possibly, even putting a strain on existing relationships as everyone adjust to the couples coming back together.

Immediately a weigh-in of the returning couples was profiled as Bob and Jillian told the returning players that they scale never lies and that the returning players would have to get in the game to keep their teams together.

Returning Players Weigh-In

Alison greeted the six and told the players that the winner of the weigh-in would immunity for their teams for the week, giving them a way to repay all of the hard work of their teammate.

Pink team, Shanon, started at 270 pounds, lost 15 pounds for a 5.56% loss

Green team, Laura, started at 272, lost 7 pounds for a 2.57% loss

Purple team, Cathy, started at 281 pounds, lost 8 pounds, for a 2.85% loss

Yellow team, Aubrey, started at 236 pounds, lost 2 pounds, for a .85% loss

Silver team, Carla, started at 368 pounds, lost 20 pounds, for a 5.43% loss

Blue team, Sione, started at 349 pounds, lost 25 pounds, for a 7.16% and won immunity for he and Filipe at the next weigh-in.

During the weigh-in, several of the players were upset that they didn’t lose enough and Aubrey, who only lost 2 pounds, said that she knew that she had gained muscle, which sent Bob and Jillian into orbit. In one of the best lines of the night, Alison, after the weigh-in, said, “The good news is, you are back on campus; the bad news is, you are back on campus. Now it is time to go work out.”

The workout was brutal as Bob said that he was going to put a month of workouts into one day. Several of the team members, who had been on the ranch from day one, were worried about their returning team members. Green tea, Tara, was worried about Laura’s work ethic and Filipe, was amazed at the work ethic of his cousin, Sione. Jillian was having a heart-to-heart with Aubrey, who claimed that she was working out, but had done bad on food choices. And, as usual, Bob was keeping an ever-watchful eye on Joelle and Carla as he was again worried that Joelle’s inconsistent workout ethic would take them out way too early from the competition.

The Challenge

The next challenge had host Alison Sweeney talking the importance of partnerships and that the team members would be tied together. The then would have to unravel a rope they bound them together and tied them to a pipe and would have to unravel enough to get across the finish line. The teams started out pretty even, but Ron and Mike fell behind fairly quickly as Ron struggled to even pull himself over the bar.

Many of the players struggled with the over and under of the bar and trying to manipulate the amount of rope they might need to cross the finish line. Yellow team was first to try to see if they had enough to cross the finish line and Blue team decided to stretch across the line as the Blue team approached. Yellow, Mandi and Aubrey made the final stretch and Alison offered the girls either $5000 or a two pound weight advantage at the weigh-in.

The last chance workout was one of the most brutal, as the returning team members were stunned at the intensity as they experienced the wrath of Bob and Jillian. Bob was sure that the “At-Home People, ” as he called them, were going to struggle at the weigh-in and Joelle was again the focus of the wrath of Bob and the other players as Joelle reverted back to her old ways. Bob tortured Shanon, when he had Sione jump on her back and had her carry him across the gym to welcome her back into the fold.

The Weigh-In

Alison greeted them again as teams for the weigh-in and stressed that now they were dependant on each other to stay in the game. Jillian lamented that she was down by two teams to Bob’s five and that if her teams dropped below the line, “They would be dead.

Alison asked the Yellow team about what they wanted, and the girls opted for the two pound advantage.

Blue team, Sione and Filipe, lost 8 pounds and 3 pounds, but had immunity, for a 1.73% loss

Yellow team, Mandi and Aubrey, lost 6 and 10 pounds and had a 2 pound advantage, for a 3.90% loss

Silver team, Carla and Joelle, lost 9 and 0 pounds, which set off a firestorm from some of the other players and disappointment form Bob as Joelle didn’t seem to care that she lost 0 pounds. Bob commented about the importance of both team members working hard as the Silver team lost 1.44% and probably earned themselves a trip to the elimination table

Black team, Blaine and Dane, lost 9 and 11 pounds, for a 3.04% loss

Green team, Laura and Tara, lost 13 and 12 pounds, for a 4.84% loss

Brown team, Ron and Mike, lost 9 and 4 pounds, for a 1.83% loss

Pink team, Helen and Shanon, lost 9 and 9 pounds, for a 3.75% loss

Purple team, Kristin and Cathy, lost 11 and 5 pounds, for a 2.72% loss

With the Silver and Brown team heading to the elimination room, Joelle should go home just because she continues to drag down her team mate and frustrates the other players. But there is always game play involved and Carla made an impassioned plea to stay at the ranch, which may end up saving the team for another week. Mike and Ron both pleaded with a real conviction to stay and, hopefully, the remaining teams will actually reward the team that is 100% involved and keep Mike and Ron to stay.

The elimination challenge proved interesting again, if not for the empty rhetoric that was flying around. Alison said they were getting right to the vote and Pink team voted for Carla and Joelle as did the Yellow team. Joelle immediately started to defend herself with only two votes in saying that she had a good work ethic. Blue team added insult to injury and gave the Silver team their third vote and the Green team put the final nail in the coffin and poor Carla was the recipient of the love of the other players as all of the teams made it clear that Joelle was the one being voted out.

In one of the most bizarre looks at losers after they had left, it was disclosed that Joelle and Carla had not spoken to each other for several months and The Biggest Loser producers arranged a meeting of the two former friends. Carla, wanting to try to bridge the gap, still had trouble getting through to the always defiant Joelle, even to the point of Joelle letting out a choice swear word and storming away from the meeting. In the usual after look, Carla had lost an impressive 87 pounds and Joelle had only managed an additional 26 pounds since leaving the ranch for a total of 57 in all. Once thing for sure, Bob’s voice won’t be as horse from now on.
