A Real Reality TV Scandal!

Therehave been rampantarticles about realityTV scandals lately, especially about American Idol scandals. What with Joanna Pacitti knowing a few executives from American Idol season 8, the Bikini girl’s naked pictures, also from this season, we can’t believe that the producers would let such incidents knowinglyoccur. We have also questioneda few moreserious scandals in the past from American Idolsuch as season four contestant Bo Bice’s charge for cocaine and marijuana possession and the Brittenum twins forgery, theft by deception and identity fraud in season two. We have however, never witnessed anything quite like this!

The Spanish version of The Amazing Race called Around the World has just given the boot to one of their couples, Cyril Jacquet and his girlfriend Paola Alberdi after it was revealed that Cyril Jacquet murdered his mother and father when he was 15 years old!

The rumors first surfaced on the internet and when he was questioned about the incident by the producers of the show, who apparently had no idea of the contestant’s past, he said, “I will always hold my head high. People change.”

In 1994, Cyril Jacquet shot his mother three times using his father’s automatic pistol after she entered the family home. A few hours later, he used the remaining seven bullets to kill his father.

After his parent’s funeral he eventually confessed to their murders and served three years in a youth detention centre. Under Spanish law he has no criminal record since he was a minor at the time of the murders.

Cyril Jacquet whois now an airline cabin crew worker, says that the media and “undesirable” people are the reason he has decided to leave the show. “They don’t let you leave the past behind,” he said. “I don’t want to keep giving them the excuse to lynch me.”

His girlfriend Paola Alberdi, says that she has always known about her boyfriend’s past and said, “It bothers me a lot that we have to go because someone wants to pour shit on someone else’s life. I know he is strong. If he has got to where he has, it is because he can handle anything.”

We have often wondered when so called unfit contestantshave made it past the producers of American Idol, but come on people, killing your parents? That is definately a scandal! A few naked pictures here and there are welcomed compared to an incident like that. Hopefully other shows will take at look at this incident and do more thorough background checks on their contestants, but then againit is calledreality TV isn’t it?

The Amazing RaceU.S. premieres Sunday, Feb. 15 at8 PM ETon CBS.
