All American Idol fans know the numbers by heart. When it comes to voting for their favorite contestant it is easy, just dial 1-866-IDOLS-01 or 1-866-IDOLS-12, whatever the case may be. When Kara DioGuardi, Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, and Randy Jacksondecided last week to put 13 contestants through to the top 12, instead of the 12 into the finals, they didn’t think through all the ramifications and issues that could arise.

Unless FOX and the producers of American Idol spend a lot of money to buy the number 1-866-IDOLS-13, expect to see a different number tonight for the 13th contestant to sing. After some research it has become apparant that 1-866-IDOLS-13 will instruct the caller to pay money and hear some naughty talk. Someone who was very smart decided to buy that number in hopes of getting a bunch of misdials and money of their own.

Verdict is still out on how American Idol will handle this issue and what Ryan Seacrest will say about it on the air tonight. Hopefully it will be an easy fix and the person who performs last won’t be voted off just because the judges stuck their foot in their mouths.
