The Biggest Loser Goes Glam And An Injury Takes One Out

The Biggest Loser goes glam as the remaining Losers head for New York to get made over by Tim Gunn of Project Runway fame and, of course, his own show on Bravo, Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style. It won’t be all fun and games, that we can be sure of, but at least we will have the opportunity to see them lose the sweats to see what they look like all dressed up. With fame and glory within reach of them all, you can bet the make-over will give them an added incentive to do what they have to do to get to the finish line.

Filipe was bumming that Sione was gone and found himself with Kristin as he read a letter that Sione had left him to inspire him to continue on in the game. Kristin and Filipe were intent to turn up the heat and try to pick away at the strong-hold that Jillian’s team seemed to have saying it was an uphold fight.

The Losers came to a canyon that was crossed with cables and their challenge was to cross the canyon that had, at one point, a 110 foot drop for them to contend with. Host Alison Sweeney told them that the winner would get a $25,000 kitchen makeover and a stocked kitchen with healthy turkey products to aid them in their new healthy lifestyle.

Filipe took a pretty hefty lead as Tara lost her footing pretty early on. Ron, of course, continued to drop out of challenges by not really trying to compete. Tara managed to get her footing and sprung back into second place to give Filipe a run for his money. Even after losing a full minute when she dropped off the cables, Tara won yet another challenge, her tenth, proving that she is the one to beat this season and that even if Filipe was channeling Sione, the result would be the same; Filipe falters at the end as Tara takes home the prize.

Alison then told the Losers they were all getting a makeover from none other than Tim Gunn as they would soon learn when they arrived at Macy’s for the makeover in LA. Not only that, Gunn announced that they were being made over for a big-time Hollywood movie premier and, unbeknownst to the Losers, would have members of their family in attendance.

The Losers all went shopping and you could tell that all of them struggled with their new bodies as they were not used to actually shopping for clothes that fit them well. The biggest challenge most of them faced, especially the women, was them getting used to their new body image as Tim Gunn said, “Their brain had not accepted their new image.”

The Losers then headed over for their styling make-over with none other than Tabitha from another of Bravo’s hit shows, Tabatha’s Salon Takeover. Between Tim and Tabatha, the Losers thought they had it all, but they had one more shock waiting for them as they were about to see family members at the premier. The movie premier was not for a movie, but for the Losers themselves as they were being premiered to their family members.

Helen looked fabulous as she was greeted by her husband; Tara was stunning when she her mother was waiting for her and Filipe’s wife sobbed when Filipe came strutting down the stairs. Kristin’s husband was shocked when he saw how much Kristin had changed and Laura’s best friend looked in awe at how much her best friend had changed. Ron looked incredibly slimmer as he was greeted by his wife and son and when Mike came down the stairs, his brother, Max, openly wept as he realized that his brother had lost so much weight and that now, as he said, “He was the big one.” What was one of the most touching moments of the evening was when Mike spent some time with his brother, Max, encouraging him that he too, could lose the weight as he and Ron had done and that he would always be there for him.

The Losers then sat and watched their journey of weight-loss unfold before their very eyes as the movie premier that they were to attend had the Losers as the stars and they all seemed shocked to see what they looked like. It is amazing that while they could not accept their own bodies while shopping, they were even more shocked as to what they all had become before they enteredThe Biggest Loser ranch just fifteen weeks earlier.

The Last Chance Workout had Bob and Jillian knowing that the Losers were up against the wall as the makeovers had taken away valuable time away from training. Bob was threatening all of his team not to even think about being close that yellow line and Jillian was at it as well. Jillian tortured her team knowing that the numbers had been favorable during the last couple of weeks at the weigh-in and said that they were going to “Sweat blood” at this workout to make up for the time away at their make over.

Jillian was concerned about Laura as she was determined to have a stress fracture. Laura’s hip fracture took her out of her training routine completely it looked like I would probably send her home if she fell below the yellow line. What made it worse was that she could not even run for three months according to Dr. Huizenga,The Biggest Loser doctor. Of all the people we thought an injury could happen to, we never saw Laura as the one taken out by a training-related injury onThe Biggest Loser.

The Weigh-In

Allison Sweeney greeted the Losers and reiterated how close they all were to the end-game and how each weigh-in becomes more important to stay away form the yellow line. Mike was close to breaking yet another Biggest Loser record for most weight lost at the ranch as he needed to lose five pounds to do so. With the goal in balance, Allison sent Mike to the giant scale first to weigh in.

Mike lost 5 pounds and set a new Biggest Loser record and had a 2.02% weight loss

Ron lost 6 pounds for a 1.95% weight- loss

Tara lost 4 pounds for a 2.15% weight-loss

Filipe lost 5 pounds for a 1.98% weight-loss

Helen lost 7 pounds for a 4.14% weight-loss

Kristin lost 2 pounds for a .82% weight-loss

Laura, who was injured, gained 3 pounds and went below the yellow line and probably was headed home as she will be unable to work out anymore this season. Jillian was even thinking that it was for the best if Laura went home to recover and maybe she would have a shot at winning the runner-up prize.

The shocker was that the talk of the house was since Laura was no longer a threat; taking Kristin out at the elimination would be the best move for several of the losers as she would no longer be someone who could threaten at the weigh-ins. The talked turned pretty nasty as Kristin threatened the group not to be involved in the game-play and not to take “The cowardly way out.” That is at least what the editing of the elimination talk showed us. Ron made a pretty impassioned plea for Laura to go and Mike seemed to disagree with his dad saying that Kristin was a definite threat to him staying in the game.

The elimination had Tara, of course, voting for Kristin; Ron voting for Laura; Mike voting with his dad voting to send Laura home; Helen voted for Kristin to go home giving the swing vote to Filipe who, in no surprise, voted for Laura and Allison told Laura thatThe Biggest Loser would be sending her some Doctors to help her heal.

The good thing was that Laura had maintained her weight loss of seventy-seven pounds even through she had the injury and had every intention in competing for that runner-up prize.
