Extreme Makeover Home Edition: Jordon Family Slam Dunk!

This week on ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition, the design team heads to Montgomery Alabama to meet the Jordon family, Monica and Brady, the parents, along with their daughter Brittany and their three grandchildren. The family has overcome great tragedy - their daughter was shot and killed by her own fiancee, who then shot himself. Monica and Brady took custody of their young son Miles. That isn’t all. Their son William was killed by a drunk driver following the death of his sister. The Jordons also took on Miles’ two children. Monica now helps others learn about the consequences of drunk driving. After all of the tragedy, finally, the Jordons’ life is about to be changed for the better.

Ty Pennington and the Extreme Makeover Home Edition design team arrive for Door Knock Day at the Jordons’ home. Monica is overcome and never lets go of Ty’s hands. He tells them that they are going to Disneyland for the week!

Monica takes Ty Pennington inside the house and recounts how her daughter was about to start law school when she was killed. She shows Ty where the water comes into the kitchen - sometimes knee deep! Ty says the one thing they can fix is the house. Paul goes up to the Miles and Tay Tay’s room where they chat about the difficulties of sharing a room, and Miles says he loves basketball, while Tay Tay admits a fondness for volcanoes! Tracy chats with the girls in their room, Brittany says she is set to go through university to be a pediatrician, and William’s daughter Shan, remembers losing her dad. Tracy says that Extreme Makeover Home Edition is going to give this family the home they deserve this week!

Jake Aronov from Aronov Homes, who are overseeing the build, says the Jordon family has turned their pain into something productive by helping others - they’re ready to build a great house! The volunteers cheer and Ty says they should let the family know what’s happening. Via video, Ty tells the Jordons that their community is rallying behind them, and then announces a basketball demolition! The high school basketball team is called in, and will be versus the Extreme Makeover Home Edition team - the only rules are that every bucket has to hit the house! The bucket of the excavator moves in to demolish the house when each basket is scored!

By the morning of Day Three on Extreme Makeover Home Edition, the house is really coming along. Ty says the most important thing is that the new home will be big enough for all of them, since Monica and Brady took in their grandchildren when their children were killed. Ty is working on his special project for the week - Monica and Brady’s room. Paul is downstairs overseeing the new fireplace, dining room table, and most importantly, the kitchen!

Tracy and Paul are asked by Ty to connect with the groups Monica works with to educate about drinking and driving and domestic violence. From Disneyland, Tracy tells the Jordon family that they’ve taken many wrecked cars that have been in alcohol-related crashes and put them out in front of the community center to help raise awareness about drinking and driving. People who have had their lives affected by drinking and driving speak to Monica via video. Monica says when she saw all the cars, she knew William’s death wasn’t in vain.

Paul is on the campus of Montgomery University, he has silhouettes laid out on the ground - each one represents a woman who has been killed by domestic violence. He announces a full scholarship for Brittany to attend school there - and Miles too! The two older children are proud and happy.

As Tracy works on the girls’ rooms, Paul calls Miles favorite Dallas Mavericks basketball player, Dirk Nowitzki, and gets a signed jersey to hang up in his bedroom. Ty continues to work on his special project, and Eduardo labors to get a barbeque space ready for the Jordon family in the backyard! Already, it’s time for the big truck of furniture to pull up on Extreme Makeover Home Edition!

The limo soon arrives containing the Jordon family. Ty Pennington welcomes them as they step out and take in the screaming crowd of volunteers! Everyone chants, “Move that bus!” and the new house is revealed! The family is overwhelmed by the beauty of the new exterior and eagerly thanks Jake Aronov, the builder, for his efforts. Jake tells Monica and Brady that Aronov Homes has also paid off the mortgage that was outstanding on the property and old house! When they recover from that news, Ty sends them inside to have a look!

Inside their new Extreme Makeover Home Edition house, the Jordons admire the new sunny kitchen and marvel that they will all be able to sit down at the table! Monica gets choked up at the framed photos of her children that have passed on. Ty Pennington comes in and lets them know that all of the appliances are from Sears, before setting them loose on the rest of the house. Shan sees her new room first - she loves it! Tay Tay is absolutely blown away by his volcano-themed bedroom, and Miles is crazy about his basketball room - as well as the signed jersey from his favorite player! Brittany screams at the sight of her eggplant and gold feminine room - complete with stethoscope!

Finally, Monica and Brady see Ty’s special project - their new bedroom. The space is covered with framed photos of hands reaching out, and features a beautiful ensuite bathroom. Ty comes in and says there is one more thing he wants to show them - he leads them out to the new backyard where their family and friends are waiting. Ty gives his Extreme Makeover Home Edition welcome, and Monica says that this week a strong preventative message went out.
