The Next Food Network Star: Dinner at Ina’s

Wow! What a rollercoaster ride tonight’s episode of the Next Food Network Star was! Buckle up and get ready for the ride!

Tension was rising in thehouse, but the show must go on. All left for the first part of thisNext Food Network Starchallengeto meetTyler Florence at a grocery store. The contestants shopped with $60 to create meals for a dinner party of 12!

The contestants also had to stop their shopping frenzy and record a 30-second video of money-saving tips.

Each had a go at the challenge, but smooth and charming Jeffrey won. Yeah Jeffrey!

The next part of the Next Food Network Star challenge took the contestants to East Hampton and the home of the Barefoot Contessa, Ina Garten. The low-budget dinner party was to feed Ina, her wealthy friends, and the judges.

The contestants worked in teams making an appetizer, an entrÃe, and a dessert. Each person was responsible for one of the three dishes and each team collaborated on the third. They had just 1 hour to cook and create a 2 minute presentation for the dinner guests.

Jeffrey won the first part of the challenge and got to pick Michael for his team. They collaborated on the appetizer and made roasted tomato and red chili soup. Michael cooked the entrÃe of grilled chicken and sausage on a crostini. Jeffrey made chocolate filled crepes for dessert. The judges loved their food.

Teddy and Debbie were a team and Debbie made an appetizer of vegetable linguini with an Asian marinara. Teddy and Debbie collaborated on the entrÃe of pan Asian meatloaf (Yummy!). Dessert was Teddy’sâ⬔an atrocious strawberry shortcake trifle.

Melissa and Eddie were a team and Eddie made an appetizer of sweet onion and watermelon salad. Melissa made lemon thyme chicken with port sauce as the entrÃe, and they collaborated on a dessert of a bananas foster Nutella quesadilla.

Jamika and Katie teamed up and Jamika made an appetizer of salmon with seaweed and pepper slaw. Katie made the entrÃe of whole wheat pasta with chicken sausage and broccolini. Both women got together for dessert, a fruit salad with grilled pineapple.

During elimination the judges called out Katie and Jamika saying their collaboration was lacking, but they LOVED Jamika’s salmon and her great personality. They said poor Katie was unmemorable.

Jeffrey and Michael were praised for an expensive looking plate, but Michael seemed lost.

Eddie and Melissa lacked team spirit and Melissa admitted Eddie made her tense. Bobby watched the video of them cooking and Eddie rolling his eyes when Melissa spoke to him, which drove Bobby NUTS!

The judges told Debbie that her personality and food were great. But, Teddy’s dessert was an abomination. Yuck! The collaborated dish of meatloaf was “awesome” and Teddy piped in, “I, I, I,feel like that was my dish.” OMG. This was a little shocking, but after Teddy’s sleazy behavior last week, I guess it was expected.

Teddy dug himself a deeper hole and said, “The meatloaf was mine and the dessert was a collaborative thought.” Teddy said at the dinner presentation the dessert was his, and the judges reminded him of that.

Teddy finally said, “You’re absolutely right and I should have taken ownership of the dessert,” as he rubbed Debbie’s back, and said, “I’m really sorry.” Debbie seemed outraged and said, “I’m sorry Teddy,You know nobody was comfortable in working with you,We both worked on that,you molded it, but we conceptualized it together,I flavored it. I’m having a really hard time with your honesty and your integrity here.” Meanwhile, Teddy was tearing up realizing what a jerk he’d been.

Jeffrey and Michael won the challenge and Teddy and Eddie found themselves in the bottomâ⬔I wonder why?!

In the end, Eddie was not progressing from show to show and got the boot.

On the next episode of the Next food Network Star, an injury leaves one contestant in need of an ice pack and more crying during elimination ensues! Sounds juicy,
