Finally, areality show I actuallyfit the criteriafor. Officially titled The Streets of America: The Search for America’s Worst Driver, this show will follow in the same format as the widely popular Britain’s Worst Driver. The unscripted serieswill be airing on the Travel Channel and is scheduled to hit sometime the first part of next year. Unlike most reality shows, the bar is set a bit lower: just don’t be the absolute worst.
The Streets of America: The Search for America’s Worst Driver, slated to air first quarter of 2010, will travel to America’s most iconic driving cities where each week bad drivers will compete in challenges. It is the only show in history where getting eliminated is a good thing. Contestants who are not named their city’s Worst Driver will go on to win significant driving related prizes.
“We’re really excited about the potential fan base for this show,” said Smith. “There are so many elements our viewers can relate to and it’s a great way to experience America. Plus we know how entertaining it will be to watch as the contestants try to navigate through Los Angeles, the home to the country’s busiest freeway interchange, or drive down San Francisco’s Lombard Street.”
“We are thrilled to bring this international hit to the Travel Channel. The combination of producers A. Smith & Co.’s unparalleled track record with Mentorn USA’s hit format, make The Streets of America one of the most anticipated new series for 2010,” said Michael Klein, Senior Vice President, Content at Travel Channel. “We at the Travel Channel celebrate every aspect of travel and know that exploring a city by car is one of the most universal experiences. We look forward to exposing the best, and sometimes the worst, a city has to offer from the view of the driver’s seat.”
