Dancing With The Stars: Maksim Chmerkovskiy Says ‘It’s All About Compromise’

Dancing With The Starscouple Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are busy planning their June 2010 wedding, but that doesn’t mean they still aren’t learning a thing or two about each other. PEOPLE caught up with Maks over the Fourth of July weekend and asked him a few questions about the secret to a happy relationship…

“It’s all about compromise,” Chmerkovskiy said.”When we agree on stuff, that’s the best part of [wedding] planning.” Although one of the first location ideas was a castle, the couple has decided on something much more realistic.

“We’re probably going to do something in Manhattan, I don’t know what,” he told PEOPLE Saturday before celebrating the Fourth of July at the Palazzo Las Vegas’s Azure pool with his fiancÃ. “We’re moving along, but it’s not a fast process.”

“We’ve set a wedding month, but we haven’t set a date. It’s a start,” he says. “The wedding is next June. We’ve hired an amazing wedding planner, but I know what I want.”
