Dancing With The Stars: Julianne Hough Confirms Her New Role In ‘Footloose’

Whether or not Julianne Houghwill be starring in Footloose has been up in the air for quite some time. First, there were rumors that she couldn’t act, thenthere were scheduling conflicts, and the list goes on. Finally, the Dancing With The Starspro has confirmed that she will indeed be starring opposite Chace Crawford on the big screen…

While opening for George Straight at the Elkhart County 4H Fair in Elkhart, Indiana, Julianne put rumors to rest for for FOX411.

“We’re just working out the nitty gritty details, especially with Dancing With The Stars,she said. “But the plan is, I’m doing Footloose! I’m ecstatic about it, but I’m holding my breath until I’m actually eating popcorn in the movie theater watching it. You never know until it is filmed and on screen.”

Zac Efron was originally signed onto play Julianne’s love interest, Ren McCormack, but he backed out last spring. The part has now been given to Chace Crawford. Personally, I can’t tell the difference between the two blue-eyed, brown-haired hotties.

“I didn’t get to see Chace dance during his audition, but I’m told he’s talented,” Julianne said. “When we did the screen test together, he was great. He’s a very cool guy. We definitely laughed, but I was so nervous during my audition with him. Kenny was there to guide us through it and help us out and make us comfortable.”

Although she won’t be partnering up with him on the big screen, Julianne still hopes she gets the chance to dance with Zac. “It would be fun to dance with somebody who has rhythm like Zac,” she said. “He is young and I’m sure he can move.”
