Tyra Banks To Reveal Her True Hair For The First Time

Tyra Banks has declared September 8th “National Real Hair Day” on her talk show. Tyra told Entertainment Tonight that she plans on coming out onto the stage with natural, wet hair and then someone will style it on live TV. The big reveal comes only one day before the premiere of the new season of America’s Next Top Model.

“This is fake hair,” Tyra explained to ET. “I’ve shown myself with no makeup, cellulite on my butt, untouched photos, but I haven’t shown my hair. It’s a mystery. People are, ‘Does she have any hair?’”

Tyra hopes to encourage many young women who constantly say they want to look like her. ”So, I want to show them what I really look like,” she says. “I think [my hair] looks like what they really look like. You know? My hair is not all down here and flowing. It’s just pretty normal.” She has worn weaves and wigs since she started modeling and her hair would always end up getting hacked off.

As far as the premiere of America’s Next Top Model, Tyra is excited that she can finally feature models under 5′7. “I stand for redefining beauty and really opening up the narrow box of what beautiful is. With America’s Next Top Model, when I created the show I was like, ‘You have to have all skin colors. We have to have from alabaster to ebony and everything in between.’ In terms of body type, I was like, ‘I have to have plus-size models. I have to show to a full figured woman a representation of herself on this show,’” she said.
