Kym Johnson To Replace Karina Smirnoff In Burn The Floor

Exes Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff starred opposite each other last summer in the Broadway play, Burn the Floor. When Maksim was recently asked to return after Thanksgiving, he said he wouldn’t have agreed if Karina was part of the cast.  Luckily, they have asked fellow Dancing With The Stars professional, Kym Johnson, to replace her…

As far as Karina goes, Maksim is avoiding her at all costs. “I wouldn’t do it if she was asked back,” Chmerkovskiy told E! News yesterday at the Sony Cierge event.  Maksim and Kym will be starring opposite each other until January.

“Kym’s been part of the cast before and she knows everybody in it,” Chmerkovskiy said, adding, “The fun part is I got a call form the producers after we finished our last run, saying, ‘If you promise to come back, we’ll extend it.’ And I kind of like thought about it for a second and I’m like, ‘You’re asking me if I come back, the entire show will stay on Broadway?’ That’s the achievement of a lifetime.”

In regards to last night’s elimination, Maksim said, “It’s a case of the audience dropping the ball.  Mark has fans that should have backed him up. I feel for the guy. He had three partners in three days…But Mark still pulled it off. He still got it together.”

Dancing With The Stars returns again next Monday night at 8 PM ET as the dancers try for a place in the semi-finals with two new dances each.
