Jennifer Hudson Scores Movie Role As Nelson Mandela’s Wife

Ever since the start of Jennifer Hudson’s career on American Idol, her life has been a whirlwind of successes. It looks like next year will be no different as the singer and Oscar-winning actress has just scored another compelling big screen role…

Next spring, Jennifer will begin filming Winnie, in which she will play the wife of Nelson Mandela. “I was compelled and moved when I read the script,” Jennifer said. “Winnie Mandela is a complex and extraordinary woman, and I’m honored to be the actress asked to portray her. This is a powerful part of history that should be told.”

The film is scheduled to start production next spring in South Africa, where Mandela was imprisoned. Jennifer is also expected to sing the movie’s theme song.
