Kate Gosselin Turns Down Roses From Jon

After all of the public bashing, Jon Gosselin has been trying to make amends. In fact, he brought a couple dozen long-stemmed roses to Kate the other day. Aw, that’s sweet right? Unfortunately, he brought them to court, where they were working out the details of their pending divorce. Jon, seriously?

Last Saturday, the couple met up at court in attempt to finalize their divorce. Jon’s lawyer, Mark Heller, told PEOPLE that they were able to amicably express their opinions. “This has been called the real-life War of the Roses,” said Heller, “and he brought that as a peace offering to break the ice and try to bring the war to an end.” Apparently, it didn’t work because Kate left empty-handed.

If all goes well, the divorce should be final by the New Year. “It was a positive move in the right direction for us to bring them together to the mediation table,” continued Heller. “Obviously before two warring parties can smoke the peace pipe, they have to sit down at a table and address the issues that brought them to the skirmish.”

“There were a couple of very emotional moments,” concluded Heller, “but in the end it all came together and concluded on a happy note.”
