Derek Hough Weighs In On Julianne’s Breakup

Derek Hough recently met up with PEOPLE at Diddy’s 40th birthday bash at the New York Plaza Hotel, where he commented on little sister Julianne Hough’s breakup from Chuck Wicks. He also reveals some reasons as to why the couple didn’t work out…

From everything that we’ve heard so far, Julianne certainly isn’t sitting at home eating herself ugly and crying in her pillow. Derek told PEOPLE, “She’s 21 years old and her career is skyrocketing right now and it’s tough to sustain a relationship, especially with somebody who’s so much older than her.” Julianne has also mentioned that the two were both too busy with career stuff to focus on their relationship.

But that doesn’t mean they all won’t be seeing each other any more. “They’re both good. He’s a great guy – he’s cool. We’ll all still hang out,” he continued. “We’re all very close. And [the split] is amicable. They’re still really great friends, and that’s the way to do it.”

Oh, isn’t that just sweet. Even their breakups are perfect.
