The Hills’ Lauren Conrad Releases Second Novel

It’s been a very good week for the former star of The Hills, Lauren Conrad! She turned 24 yesterday (happy birthday, LC), released her second novel, and kicks off a nationwide book tour starting in New York City today. The reality star-turned-magazine-editor-turned-fashion-designer-turned-bestselling-author is thrilled about Sweet Little Lies, the second novel in her L.A. Candy series. The original star of The Hills, Lauren found a new kind of fame as a bestselling young adult author. Her first book, L.A. Candy, follows Jane Roberts, a normal girl-next-door who signs a deal to star in a reality TV show and her life gets turned upside down. The book spent time on the N.Y. Times Bestseller list and is being made into a movie. The follow-up, Sweet Little Lies, sees Jane trying to handle her instant fame, her destroyed reputation when sexy photos are leaked online, and a falling-out with her best friend. Wow. However does Lauren come up with these plot points?

If the stories sound familiar, it’s because the books are basically retelling all of the drama that went down on LC’s two reality shows, Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and The Hills, although Conrad claims, “I didn’t take anything specifically that happened to me.” Umm, ok, sure. But if in the next book, Jane’s former best friend is on the cover of People magazine for undergoing ten plastic surgical procedures, we’re going to start to wonder.

Sweet Little Lies hit bookstores on February 2nd.
