Extreme Makeover Home Edition: Cooper Family Goes to Washington!

Ty Pennington tells Paige, Michael, and Ed, this week’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition Design Team on ABC, that they are going to help the family of a true hero - a veteran of Operation Desert Storm! Jeff Cooper was exposed to toxic chemicals while overseas, and has Multiple Sclerosis - he is in a wheelchair. Jeff is limited physically, but fights back by advocating for disabled veterans. Wife Clara stays home with Jeff, so her life has changed as well. There are two children in the Cooper family, Windy, age 16, and Aaron, age 13 - their home is deteriorating due to water damage.

Extreme Makeover Home Edition: Jordon Family Slam Dunk!

This week on ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition, the design team heads to Montgomery Alabama to meet the Jordon family, Monica and Brady, the parents, along with their daughter Brittany and their three grandchildren. The family has overcome great tragedy - their daughter was shot and killed by her own fiancee, who then shot himself. Monica and Brady took custody of their young son Miles. That isn’t all. Their son William was killed by a drunk driver following the death of his sister. The Jordons also took on Miles’ two children. Monica now helps others learn about the consequences of drunk driving. After all of the tragedy, finally, the Jordons’ life is about to be changed for the better.

Extreme Makeover Home Edition: Almquist Forever Wild Sanctuary!

Ty Pennington starts tonight’s episode of ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition by riding in on a fire engine and simulating the rescue of a tiger! On the bus, he explains to the design team that they are headed to Phelan California to help the Almquist family. They are currently living in a trailer, and run the Forever Wild Exotic Animal Sanctuary - a place for abused or abandoned wild animals! Jenny, a veterinarian that calls the Almquist family heroes, is the person who recommended them for Extreme Makeover Home Edition. The family has recently lost their major donors and is worried that they will have to turn animals away. Jessica, a volunteer at the sanctuary, explains that they are running out of supplies. Ty says that the family is sacrificing their own comfort, and is living in a run-down trailer that, ironically, is infested with rodents!

Extreme Makeover Home Edition: Bell Family!

Ty Pennington begins this week’s edition of ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition by explaining that he and the design team are headed for Tucson Arizona to help the Bell family. Daughter Lizzie has a rare form of anemia, which has resulted in her very survival depending on regular blood transfusions. Lizzie helped to form the John P. Bell Foundation, after Lizzie’s grandfather, and became an advocate who encouraged others to donate blood. The fourteen year-old also established ‘Lizzie’s Loot’ which gathers toys for children in the hospital receiving transfusions. Ty explains that the medical costs are huge, meaning that the Bell family cannot afford to fix their home, which is sinking and has termite and mold issues.

Extreme Makeover Home Edition: Ruiz Family!

Tonight on ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Ty Pennington and the design team are traveling to El Paso Texas to help the Ruiz family. Maria Ruiz was once honored on CNN Heroes for her work to feed the hungry. They currently feed about 1200 children out of their own kitchen. Both of the Ruiz parents work, but their income doesn’t stretch to support the charity they run, and do necessary repairs on their own home, which is deteriorating.

Extreme Makeover Home Edition: The Riojas Family!

Climbing a rock wall, Ty Pennington reminds viewers that this season is all about heroes - and Maryanne Riojas and her four children have had an uphill climb. The ABC Extreme Makeover Home Edition design team is headed to Fresno California to help the family out. Maryanne was born without legs and only one fully-developed arm. Heather Burke from Easter Seals explains that when she was young, Maryanne didn’t even have the means to get a wheelchair. Ty says that Maryanne had a failed relationship, but even as a single mom, she attended college and never gave up. Maryanne has traveled across the country speaking on behalf of Easter Seals. She saved up enough to put money down on her first home, and now works to help others do the same, however, her own house is not safe for her, is not wheel-chair friendly, and the children, who are all in their late teens, worry about what will happen to her when they move out.
