American Idol judge Randy Jackson is part of a new reality dance competition on MTV. Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew is a search for the best dance crew in America. Mario Lopez, who appeared on Dancing With The Stars, will host the new series, and JC Chasez of N*Sync and choreographer Shane Sparks of “You Got Served” will serve as judges.

After a nationwide search in Atlanta, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, twelve of the best dance crews competed in a live two hour casting event on January 26. Based on decisions made by the panel of judges, only eight of the crews moved on to the official competition.

Now, each of the eight dance crews will battle it out in Los Angeles. Each dance crew will perform their most innovative choreography. The show will also cover the contestants’ intimate life stories and personal drama. Every performance episode will have a theme such as recreating dance music videos seen recently on MTV, using dance to tell the story of a favorite feature film, and paying homage to the classic grooves of the past.

After each performance show, viewers will be able to vote for their favorite crews via text messaging, phone and online at http://dancecrew.mtv.com. Each week the two teams with the lowest vote total will battle it out in front of the judges for the chance to advance to another round. One dance crew will be eliminated each week, until the winner is crowned.
