Spencer Brinkerhoff of Mesa, AZ has reason to cheer — he’s the grand prize winner of DIY Network’s Celebrity Rides: Burt Builds a Better Bandit contest.
In this contest, contestants were asked to send a video to Heavy.com, explaining why they should win a fully restored Burt Reynolds edition Trans Am. Brinkerhoff, leader of a creative media design team at Cisco Learning Institute, used his creativity and skill to come up with a funny, engaging video that caught Burt’s eye. “…He has all the right moves to drive the Trans Am,” Burt says. In his winning video, Brinkerhoff dressed like Burt Reynolds and drove an invisible Trans Am through the hill country bandit-style.
Burt Builds a Better Bandit was a five-episode installment of Celebrity Rides and followed Burt as he and his design team restored a selected fleet of limited edition Trans Ams. Celebrity Rides featured Jay Leno’s Duesenberg collection in June and plans to follow Kevin Dillon as he builds a kit car replica of a 1955 Porsche Spyder in 2008.
