On the third episode of Kid Nation, the kids threw a big party at the
town saloon, where they chugged root beer. Tired out from the party,
several of the kids struggled to get up the next morning. Greg banged
posts and pans to wake everyone up. The town journal suggested to the
town council that they create order in the town and institute a curfew.
In a Kid Nation episode entitled “To Kill Or Not To Kill,” the town
journal suggested that the kids consider eating some of their chickens
for dinner. The town council decided to let the town members vote on
whether or not to kill any chickens, and the town voted in favor of a

The premiere episode of the controversial CBS reality TV series Kid Nation kicked off with
thirty-six kids on a school bus bound for a deserted town called
“Bonanza City.” While on the bus, an eight year old kid named Jimmy
remarked “I’m not going to be with my parents. There’s no adults, and
I think I’m going to die out here because there’s nothing.”

The new CBS reality TV series Kid Nation is receiving the type of
controversy-driven publicity that would make Michael Moore turn green
with envy. A parent has complained about conditions bordering on abuse
and neglect, the New Mexico Attorney General’s office is investigating
whether state laws were broken, and the Smoking Gun has published the
show’s contract with parents.
CBS introduced today the 40 kids who will participate in KID NATION,
the new reality-based series which premieres Wednesday, Sept. 19
(8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. KID NATION features 40 kids, or "Pioneers," who will have
40 days to form a new society in a ghost town that died in the 19th
Century. These kids, ages 8-15, will spend more than a month without
their parents or modern comforts in Bonanza City, N.M., attempting to
do what their forefathers could not – build a town that works. They
will cook their own meals, clean their own outhouses, haul their own
water and even run their own businesses – including the old town saloon
(root beer only). They’ll also create a real government – four kid
leaders who will guide the kids through their adventure, pass laws and
set bedtimes. Through it all, they’ll cope with regular childhood
emotions and situations: homesickness, peer pressure and the urge to
break every rule they’ve ever known.
KID NATION is a reality-based series in which 40 kids will have 40 days
to build a new world – in a ghost town that died in the 19th Century.
