On the sixth episode of On The Lot, guest judge Wes Craven of
“Nightmare on Elm Street” fame joined regular judges Carrie Fisher and
Garry Marshall. Instead of waiting until the end of the show to
announce the elimination, host Adrianna Costa wasted no time in telling
Marty Martin that he had been eliminated in the viewer vote.
The competition gets scary when director/producer/writer Wes Craven

On the fifth episode of On The Lot, guest judge David Frankel, director
of the “The Devil Wears Prada,” joined regular judges Carrie Fisher and
Garry Marshall. The judges watched short movies made by five more of
the aspiring filmmakers, and one contestant from last week was
eliminated based on the viewer vote.

On the fourth episode of On The Lot, guest judge Michael Bay (Director
of Transformers) joined regular judges Carrie Fisher and Garry
Marshall. The judges watched short movies made by five of the final
fifteen aspiring filmmakers. The rules for the short movies were they
had to be no more than three minutes in length and they had to be made
in five days time.
On the Monday edition of On The Lot, the final eighteen filmmakers
showed their one minute original comedies to the judges. After the
judges gave their feedback, the public voted for their favorites. On
the Tuesday night edition of On The Lot, the show took a very American
As the cameras continue rolling on the new moviemaking competition
series ON THE LOT, executive-produced by Mark Burnett and Steven
Spielberg, actress, author and screenwriter Carrie Fisher (“Star Wars,”
“Postcards From The Edge”) and director/producer Garry Marshall
(“Georgia Rule,” “Pretty Woman”) are confirmed as the series’ two
permanent judges after appearing as guest judges in the audition
rounds. Director D.J. Caruso (“Disturbia”) will join Fisher and
Marshall as a guest judge on the competition’s first “Film Premiere”
and “Box Office” results shows. Entertainment news anchor Adrianna
Costa serves as the show host.
On the second episode of On The Lot, the aspiring directors worked in
teams of three to create a short movie. Not all of the members of each
team got along very well, and several of the teams worked through the
night to edit their short films.
For the On The Lot premiere, fifty of the world’s most talented yet
undiscovered directors started by taking the Universal Studios backlot
tour. After the tour, the fifty contestants gathered at the Biltmore
Hotel, where they were introduced to the competition’s judges: Carrie
Fisher, Garry Marshall, and Brett Ratner.
After receiving a record-setting 12,000 video submissions at TheLot.com
from aspiring filmmakers around the globe, 50 semi-finalists have been
selected for the new filmmaking competition series ON THE LOT from Mark
Burnett, Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks Television. In the two
“audition round” episodes airing Tuesday, May 22 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT)
and Thursday, May 24 (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, these semi-finalists
will discover the magic of moviemaking when they are brought to Los
Angeles to visit a real-life film set for the first time and must
endure a rigorous “Hollywood Boot Camp.”
