Canada’s Suzie McNeil, the last woman standing on 2005′s "Rockstar: INXS," has a full album in the can, produced by Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Faith Hill, Pink, Mick Jagger), and A&R’d by music guru John Kalodner (Foreigner, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins,AC/DC).
After last seasons highly successful premier of Rock Star: INXS, the series returns to CBS this summer bigger and better than ever. Application and information for ROCK STAR 2: THE SERIES (working title) are available at www.CBS.com or www.rockstar.msn.com/season2.com.
During the reality TV show Rock Star: INXS, the band INXS selected J.D. Fortune to be their new lead singer. INXS recently announced their first world tour with J.D. Fortune would be starting in early 2006. The INXS “Switched On” tour is scheduled to start in Vancouver, BC on January 18, 2006. Tickets will go on sale to the public on the weekend of October 15, 2005, but INXS fan club members will get the opportunity to buy tickets earlier that week.
Since there is only one INXS, it would stand to reason that Rock Star: INXS would be a one-run reality TV series. However, Mark Burnett Productions is considering a second season of Rock Star. Of course unless J.D. Fortune and INXS part ways between now and then, we are assuming that the second season of Rock Star will feature a different band.
Rock Star: INXS fans can currently bid on memorabilia from the show on ebay. The auction runs from now until September 30, 2002, but some individual items are set to end before the overall auction end date. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
In the beginning, we didn’t think too much of J.D. Fortune. We compared his dancing style to “the Seinfield episode with Elaine doing her horrible little dance with the kicks and the thumbs up.” We accused J.D. of copping an attitude when he told INXS in regards to the other singers, “while they’re learning the INXS songs, I know them because I love them.” After a lackluster performance of “Suspicious Minds,” we even asked “Is it time for J.D. Fortune to go?“
Even though Rock Star: INXS got off to a slow start in the ratings, it has heated up during recent weeks, and the finale should pull in big ratings. We’re actually looking forward more to the Rock Star: INXS finale than we are to the Big Brother 6 finale, which wasn’t the case in the initial weeks of both shows. Unlike Big Brother 6, where the most popular contestants are already gone, the three remaining rock singers all have their own large fan followings.
After the elimination show, Marty Casey expresses his surprise that Suzie McNeil got eliminated. Evidently, Marty was expecting MiG Ayesa to go home. The fact that MiG is still around has Marty worried that he might be saving it all for the end. Dave Navarro shows up at the mansion in order to work in some obvious plugs for sponsors. Dave pulls off a rare triple play telling J.D., Marty, & MiG that they will be driving in their new HONDA Civis (with navigation systems) to the GIBSON Showroom to collaborate with Andrew Farris on a song that they can listen to on their DELL DJ Ditty.
Brooke Burke announces that Marty Casey won the viewer vote for an encore for his original song “Trees.” Dave Navarro adds that there will be a second encore that will be selected by the studio audience. Dave asks the audience to cheer after he announces each rock singer’s name, and J.D. Fortune gets the largest response. After thanking the audience, J.D. asks if they would rather hear “Money” or “Pretty Vegas.” The audience cheers for his original song “Pretty Vegas,” and J.D. adds a new twist to the song by performing an acoustic version.
Brooke Burke has shown up for work on Rock Star: INXS in short skirts and pajamas, but her latest outfit just might be her wildest. Dave Navarro said Brooke’s outfit made her look like “an adult superhero,” and she did sort of remind us of the seventies Saturday morning show “The Secrets of Isis.“ However, there are also some other occupations that the outfit brings to mind in addition to superhero.
