A leading Japanese broadcaster, Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) has charged ABC for copyright infringement. They are charging that the new summer hit “Wipeout” is a blatant copycat” of several of its classic Japanese competition series.
Wipeout has been one of the biggest hits of the summer for ABC. The show has already been renewed for a second season. However, it’s now time for the first season of Wipeout to come to an end.
ABC is treating viewers to not one but two episodes of Wipeout tonight. The first episode features obstacles called Human Pinball, Leap of Faith, Cookie Cutter, Big Balls and Sucker Punch.
Wipeout offers up an encore of a previously aired episode. Among the twenty-four contestants on this week’s episode are a break dancer, a cactus farmer, a preschool teacher, a banker, a single mother, a director of labor, a college advisor and a software developer.
