New York is a haven for dancers, and as such, today’s round of tryouts on So You Think You Can Dance should be nothing short of spectacular. Unfortunately, the show still insists on including subpar auditions — these certainly weren’t lacking tonight!
Without fail, Nigel Lythgoe always claims that the current season’s batch of dancers are the best that So You Think You Can Dance has even seen. After ten years, fans of the show are starting to get a bit cynical about Nigel’s pronouncements. Still, plenty perked up when, this past weekend, the longtime judge took to Twitter to claim that tonight’s episode included several of the best auditions he’d ever witnessed. Amazingly enough, this episode actually delivered on Nigel’s seemingly impossible promise!

The show is still chock full of talented dancers, but now, they are split into two main teams: the street dancers and the stage dancers. According to host Cat Deeley, this new twist will add some new drama to the show…but it ultimately could be a disaster for the members of Team Street.

So You Think You Can Dance finally returns to Fox tonight, but unfortunately, the show will no longer feature Mary Murphy and her hot tamale train. Instead, Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo will be joining Nigel Lythgoe on the judging panel. Critics on Facebook have their doubts regarding Jason’s ability to critique dance, but Paula insists that he is an “incredible” judge.
With the final season of American Idol coming next year, many fans were hopeful that the show’s past judges would come back, at least for one final night each. But if you were hoping to see Mariah Carey make an appearance for season 15, don’t get too excited, but she has no plans on it. In fact, the superstar singer recently slammed the show as the “worst experience” of her life.
