Dancing With The Stars pro dancer Cheryl Burke, is speaking out to bloggers who admonished her for putting on weight this season. What is upsetting her the most is the unhealthy body image issues promoted by such stories.
When Dancing With the Stars’ Cheryl Burke left Dancing With the Stars Tour rehearsal on opening night to be rushed to the hospital, it was a “scheduling disaster” for choreographer Louis van Amstel, who had to make last-minute changes.
As Reality TV Magazine reported on Thursday, Burke was rushed to a Seattle hospital with severe cramps and pain. The doctors suspected appendicitis, but Burke flew home to California for a second opinion.
Smart move on her part, as her family doctors have given her a clean bill of health andpermission to jump back into the tour. And Burke plans to do just that.”Burke will be performing alongside the all-star cast in her hometown of San Jose, California, and at all remaining shows on the tour,” a tour spokesman announced.

She may have the moves, but Tuesday, the only move Dancing With the Stars’Cheryl Burke was making was to a Seattle hospital for “cramping,” and “pain.”
Burke’s timing couldn’t have been worse. Tuesday was the opening night of the Dancing With the Stars tour. “Last night, during run-through,”Burke says, “…I couldn’t even stand up straight.” Doctors at the Seattle hospital think the problem could be appendicitis, but Burke plans to get a second opinion from her family doctor back home in San Francisco.
That means that the two-time Dancing With the Stars winner will be out of the tour for an undetermined amount of time.
Choreographer Louis van Amstel calls Burke’s leaving the tour “a disaster,” causing him to change the lineup yet again. For right now Karina Smirnoff will be stepping in for Burke, dancing with Burke’s season 2 championship partner, Drew Lachey.
Despite the last-minute change and the missingdancers, opening night was a huge success– the crowds, while disappointed that Burke would not be dancing, loved the show.
Yet Smirnoff, whonow is dancing more than half dozen numbers, warns, “Cheryl can’t be gone for more than a week. I won’t let her.”
