So You Think You Can Dance: Lauren Gottlieb
All-Star Season 3 Top 6
The talent, charm, beauty and humor that Lauren Gottlieb exudes in her everyday life also carries through to her performances on-screen and on the dance floor. She has quickly established herself as one of Hollywood’s rising stars as well as one of the most sought-after dancers in the country.
After winning over America on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, Lauren blazed through the competition to make it to the final 6 contestants. She hardly missed a beat, and soon every major choreographer in the business wanted to work with her, while multi-platinum recording artists were lining up to have her tour with them.
For the 2007 Grammy Awards, Lauren performed alongside Shakira and then soon found herself rehearsing with Mariah Carey for her upcoming world tour. She’s appeared on such national shows as “Good Morning America,” and this past year she returned to FOX for AMERICAN IDOL’S “IDOL GIVES BACK” special with several of her fellow SYTYCD castmates.
Originally from Scottsdale, Arizona, Lauren knew she wanted to dance by age seven. She trained in jazz, ballet, hip-hop, lyrical, tap and musical theater and describes her style of dance as a mix of contemporary, jazz-funk and hip-hop. In 2006, Lauren relocated to Los Angeles and soon after began working with noted choreographer Tyce Diorio, with whom she assisted during Season 2 of SYTYCD as well as with Tobey McGuire in his preparations for “Spiderman 2.” She then made the decision to audition for and won a spot in the cast of SYTYCD for the following year’s season.
Most recently, Lauren’s big-screen duties have put her alongside Miley Cyrus in the “Hannah Montana: The Movie” feature film, in “Bring It On: Fight to the Finish” and performing opposite Kim Kardashian and Vanessa Minnillo in “Disaster Movie.” Her many recent television projects include five episodes of GLEE as well as “Ghost Whisperer,” “Nip/Tuck,” “Teen Choice Awards,” “Carrie Underwood’s Holiday Special” and “Paula Abdul Tribute.” In 2009, Lauren was also asked to return to SYTYCD Season 5 as the show’s audition tour choreographer, as well as starring in the official SYTYCD workout DVD.
Lauren has appeared in numerous national commercial spots, including ads for Subway, AT&T, Old Navy and Nike. She also just recently completed work assisting Tabitha & Napoleon in the choreography of Cirque Du Soleil’s hit show “Viva Elvis.”
Gottlieb’s love of entertainment never seems to wane as she continues to venture into new territory, recently beginning work on her own original music with several notable hit music producers as well as launching her own clothing line of dance-inspired apparel (which can be found at Lauren-gottlieb.com). Lauren’s hosting stint for Gatorade’s “Leave It on the Floor” campaign has fueled speculation about the possibility of her hosting her own performance lifestyle show in the near future.
